Beta announcement

Welcome!

After many months of work, we’re finally able to share a first look at Ralla.

Ralla provides new ways participate in social activities. You can more about how we think about proof of participation here.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll add new elements to the app for testing. Each element uses phone information and AI in different ways, allowing for organizers to create diverse and engaging social activities. We plan to keep a running log of the new elements we add here.

      Getting the App

For those familiar with early access to apps, beta installs are slightly different.

      • You’ll need to install the app from here for iOS
      • You’ll need to install the app from here for Android

In the second case, we will take complaints submitted to support@ralla.io about organizers seriously. Complaint review will involve a thorough analysis of the a

      Happy New Year Everyone!

I wanted to share that the project I spent much of 2025 work on is now in early beta. I’m excited to tell you about it!

Ralla began with the realization that many of the ways we connect socially, particularly through events, organized experiences, and competitions, are ultimately limited by the tools we use to track progress and achievements. We tend to craft the experiences we do share with the limits of what’s practical in mind. It’s easier to organize a foot race with a finish line than it is to organize a quest with the goal of introducing you to new parts of the town where you live. So the things we experience together look more like foot races than quests: simple and linear.

The reality, though, is that we’re now building tools that are much better at interpreting the real world. The new kinds of “proof of participation” we can use to build richer experiences include easy things like confirming your location with your phone, but also the recognition of the things around us, the changes we make to our environment, and the completion of specific complex tasks. These are the new building blocks we can use to create the social experiences we share.

Ralla is a platform built to encompass those capabilities, including image interpretation, image to image comparison, facial recognition, text comparison, and more. It provides authoring to link these elements together to make what I hope are rich, engaging, and meaningful experiences.

To get things started with the beta, we’ve added a simple “Match 3” element that sets participants the challenge of finding real world matches for a variety of goals described in text. I imagined Match 3 being used at something like Comicon where a participant might go hunting for a specific cosplay character or unique item and where that kind of engagement would be a useful qualifying criteria for rewards and other kinds of participation for an event organizer.

If you install the beta, you can link to the example I created here. I promise it doesn’t include anything as challenging as finding Batman. But you’re welcome to make your own that does!

If you do have the chance to check out the beta, your feedback would be really appreciated. I’d love to hear your ideas on other “elements” we might add to the platform or specific applications where you think the capabilities we’re exploring might be useful. You can reach me at participate@ralla.io. For context, my hope is that we’ll be able to provide real value for things like:

      • Event activations
      • On-site contest verification
      • Ambassador programs
      • Skill-based competition verification
      • Fan access and VIP qualification
      • Audience participation events
      • Conference gamification

I anticipate adding new elements to the beta roughly weekly as we go forward and will announce them here if there’s interest.
