Ralla App

Hello! This page explains a little more about Ralla

Our goal is to make in-person experiences and activities more interesting for participants.

To do that, the Ralla app is built to handle some of the work that is normally difficult to delegate for events and in-person experiences.

We want to:

  • Confirm when people have achieved things during an experience or event
  • Confirm when they’ve found something relevant to that experience
  • Confirm when they’ve got somewhere as part of that experience

The idea is that giving the event designer this information makes more interesting experiences possible.

We also want to:

  • Help participants connect
  • Make more complex gamelike experiences possible

A scavenger hunt is a great example of the first case: Ralla would make it easier for a team to find and verify they found a clue by confirming it automatically. The app would know where the team is and confirm they captured an image of the correct object.

But more interesting designs are possible. For example, we’ve built an element called Hocket. It’s named for a song that two people would sing together passing the melody back and forth. Hocket gives each participant a challenge (something to capture with their phone). It takes that image and creates another text challenge from it for the next player. The result is a series of connected images that are linked together by the participants’ insights. It doesn’t have a winner but is fun to do.

We want to build other tools like that. Things that make in-person experiences more fun. You can try out Ralla now. You’re also welcome to send us ideas for other kinds of experiences. Things relevant to the communities you play in or stuff you’d love to experiment with. We keep a running list of the elements we’re adding here.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
